Passion and Service

We have been working through strategic planning lately and even for a small company it can be a daunting task. Each of us knows exactly who we are, what we stand for and why we do what we do. But being able to articulate it clearly, concisely and in away that we all feel completely connected to it is important.

Anyone who has read my first book knows that I believe organizations must have a compelling purpose far beyond bottom-line profits. This is truer today than ever before and will become paramount in the next decade. This is because the employees of today need to feel connected to something more than a paycheck. People want to contribute to something meaningful and something that they can feel connected to.  If you look around you, you will see the shift everywhere.

Most businesses know what they do and how they do it but many struggle to answer the question why they do what they do; defining their compelling purpose!

We discussed this for several hours in an effort to summarize concisely why we do what we do. We kept focusing on the value we bring to our customers and how our clients are forever impacted by the work that we do. But it wasn’t until a recent interview that took place in Banff, last week at the conclusion of a keynote presentation that it became very clear that we do what we do because we are absolutely passionate about it and it brings us great joy.

We live what we teach. When you follow your passion and you live your joy you are able to serve in a meaningful way. We work with individual leaders and teams of leaders to assist them in clearly defining their passion, joy and personal alignment. Imagine the power, positive energy and forward motion that comes from a group of leaders who are passionate about what they do and how they do it. They don’t question the WHY; the why is simply because it is their passion and joy and through this passion they are able to truly serve.  This is the future of leadership!
