Notes:
I used the accountability model AFTER i got back from my Vegas trip…and realized I was just like any other person who gambles and thinks they can win. I looked at it as an observer would and found my emotional state was way out of proportion to what was going on. But then I appreciated how I could feel the rush of emotions (positive and negative) in such short time frames without actually having ‘real life’ issues associated with them and felt grateful. But also embarrassed…!
I’ve also used it for dealing with my son Fred. Instead of worrying and getting upset when he doesn’t respond to my texts (or his account alert is below 50 again) I just let it go. Reading Yvonne’s green book about her experience with her son helped tremendously. Fred is who he is. I know I love him regardless but worrying about him is hurting me, not him (although maybe hurting our relationship too) – I’ve ‘known’ this objectively for a long time but it’s only after reading the green book that I’ve realized I can do it
